Friday 12th May saw the latest successful business breakfast at The Leigh UTC. Master of ceremonies for the event was Clive Barker, deputy chair of the academy’s governing body.

As a slight departure from previous events, the academy was delighted to welcome sponsor, Breakthrough Funding, to open the presentations with a useful guide on the various ways that businesses, such as those that work with The Leigh UTC, can fund themselves- a particular emphasis was upon R&D tax credits.

Principal, Steve Leahey, then went on to elaborate upon forthcoming plans for ICT apprenticeships at The Leigh UTC to commence from September 2017. Furthermore, he explained to delegates about the success of core maths learning at the academy demonstrating this with the use of a recent video which can be viewed here

The breakfast was aptly concluded with a presentation by current student, Huw Prosser, MD of Blooware Technology. Huw related his journey of coming to study at the Leigh UTC and how the academy has helped him to set up his business- all very inspiring.
