Year 13 students at The Leigh UTC recently gave their final EPQ presentations to a panel of teachers and invited industry experts.
EPQs (Extended Project Qualifications) are the first opportunity for students to conduct this type of independent study for themselves – akin to what they might undertake at University.
In choosing their own subject which might be a dissertation, artefact or a film, students have to plan and manage their own time, gain new skills and learn how they might improve upon initial ideas.
Invited guests came from the sectors of electrical engineering and pharmacy with one regular guest, Jenna Wells of RJ Power Limited commenting:
“There was a fantastic mix of Dissertations and Products produced this year and it’s great to see how much the students benefit from this part of their studies. Learning how to plan their time, work to a project plan and deliver a professional and informative presentation are such important skills for when they enter the world of work.“
Well done to all students concerned.
