The Leigh Academies Trust held it’s latest staff conference on Friday 15th February. Organised by the Trust Business Managers, the event was hosted simultaneously over three sites, The Leigh Academy, Longfield Academy and Strood Academy to accommodate over 2,500 staff working in Secondary, Primary, Special and Support roles. In addition to staff from the previous eighteen open Leigh Academies Trust  academies, new colleagues from the five former Williamson Trust academies added to the throng and were welcomed into the L.A.T. academic family.

During a whole day of keynote speeches and workshops, the LAT Engagement team were pleased to welcome much valued guests to present on “Put yourself in your year 4 students shoes” at Longfield Academy.

Just under thirty staff heard more about how their teaching might be supported:

Huw Prosser, former Leigh UTC student gave an inspiring presentation on his journey to becoming an inventor. Please see here for a previous visit by Huw to Molehill Primary Academy

A mini Future Transport Challenge by Phil Edwards of Weald Technology. Please see here for an example of a previous academy workshop by Weald Technology at Langley Park Primary Academy.

A hands on workshop on STEM ambassador activities by Kyla Winter of Kent & Medway STEM. Please see here for the extensive services offered to teachers and their academies.

Having hands on activities was certainly engaging and teachers actively took part.

Sincere thanks to Huw, Phil and Kyla for their valuable contribution.
