Now beginning a second year of business mentoring, Leigh Academy was delighted to train a further cohort of new mentors last week.

Facilitated by Assistant Principal, Mr Forcella-Burton and Ms Wales, Work Experience and Mentor Co-ordinator, guests were given a full overview of the mentoring scheme at the academy in preparation for their work with our students.

The Leigh Academy would like to thank all our new mentors as well as recognising the on-going support from the teams at John Lewis, Bluewater, Diligence P.M and Colorcon at Crossways as they continue to work with us.

New mentor, Phil Auden of Pinchpoint Coaching, www.gainfromchange.co.uk commented:

“Thanks for inviting me to the Leigh Academy Post-16 Business Mentoring accreditation programme last Friday which was very informative and enjoyable. It was great to have such a professional and well organised session so please pass on my congratulations and thanks to everyone else involved.

I have considerable experience in business coaching and as a volunteer business mentor, and have also trained other volunteer mentors. I would say that your programme is as good and relevant as any I have been involved in. I particularly liked the fact that you have some clear and pragmatic goals for the programme with a good administration support system. Also having non-teaching staff directly involved will help both the students and the mentors.

I know that the programme has only been going for a relatively short period but I am confident that your approach will ensure positive results as well as ongoing development of the programme.

I am looking forward to starting the mentoring activity.”

We look forward to a further successful year of business mentoring.
