APPRENTICES INVITED TO BOOK THEIR PLACE AT EXCLUSIVE GRADUATION CEREMONY

Apprentices from across Kent and Medway are invited to book their place at the first Graduation Ceremony at Rochester Cathedral on 4 October 2019, hosted by a group of Kent and Medway partners.

“Many organisations across the county are employing apprentices,” says Michael Ratcliffe, Director of Kent Association of Training Organisations (KATO). “We want to celebrate the apprentices’ achievement in the same way a University Graduate is celebrated. So we are delighted to say there are 200 places open for apprentices to book now.”

This graduation ceremony will celebrate 200 apprentices who have successfully completed their qualification between 1 January 2018 and 31 August 2019. Each apprentice will be able to invite their employer and family to share in the special occasion. A place for an Apprentices will include a complementary ceremonial gown and mortar board. Optional graduation photos can be booked by the apprentice.

Patrick Cantellow, an Apprentice in Digital Marketing, says “My plan was to go to university and become a Geography teacher. However, an Apprenticeship in Digital Marketing gave me the taste for the workplace in an exciting sector. My school friends say I ‘dropped out’, but in fact, I think I took a couple of steps ahead of them. Having an Apprentice Graduation Ceremony is a great way to show this success.”

Any apprentice who has completed their qualification, at any level or discipline, between 1 January 2018 and 31 August 2019 and is either Kent and Medway-based or has a Kent and Medway-based provider may book a place in the graduation ceremony. Applications will be verified and places are available on a first come, first served basis.

Deborah Domican, Operations Director of the DOM Education Group who are co-sponsors of the event said: “As an organisation who provides innovative training programmes to support people of all ages both in education and in the wider community it is important for us to engage with like-minded organisations and the local community. We consider it a privilege to be part of such a celebration of achievement and we look forward to attending.”
