Year 13 students at Wilmington Academy recently took part in a series of useful workshops designed to help them secure the places they require when leaving our academy.
Professionals, Daniel Goodwin and Andrew Irvine from Pearson Whiffin Recruitment www.pearsonwhiffin.co.uk/job_sectors/education/ delivered a highly interactive session on interview techniques and how to deal with assessment centres. Students were encouraged to think widely about how they present themselves to potential employers.
The workshop ended with advice on C.V writing with students being given comprehensive notes to take away from the session.
Miss Evans commented “The students said how beneficial the session was, thank you for taking the time to run such an informative workshop.”
Kent County Council apprenticeships ambassador www.kent.gov.uk/jobs/starting-your-career/be-an-apprentice, Victoria Lawrence talked to students about securing an apprenticeship and where to find opportunities.
Victoria commented – “ I just wanted to say thank you for inviting me in to do the apprenticeship session today. The students were excellently behaved and engaged with what I was saying.”
Ms Evans commented – “Thank you once again for your time and expertise.”
Representatives from the University of Kent www.kent.ac.uk came to help students with not only the writing of their personal statements but also with how to find the right University for them.
