Wednesday 4th October saw the latest business breakfast held at The Leigh UTC.

With Clive Barker, Vice-Chair of Governors acting as Master of Ceremonies, the event gave local business people from a wide range of STEM based industries the opportunity to network together and learn more about working with The Leigh UTC.

Business Mentoring

Student Services Manager, Kevin Nutter informed delegates about the highly successful business mentoring scheme at the academy and invited participation.

Student Destinations

Principal, Steve Leahey, emphasised the importance of not only qualifications but student destinations to The Leigh UTC and illustrated this with post 16 destination highlights from 2016/17:

 

  • 100% Destinations
  • 91% of all students in STEM based careers (100% of girls are in STEM careers)
  • 36% of all students have progressed to University to study a STEM career
  • 30% of all students have started a STEM Apprenticeship
  • Of all Apprenticeship students 71% started a Level 4 Higher Apprenticeship
  • 28% are in paid employment

 

UTC Hub

Delegates from the UTC Hub, www.utchub.com/utc , an organisation which works with all University Technical Colleges across the country, then went onto elaborate upon this useful platform for both students, staff and employers.
