On Wednesday 20th September 44 Year 13 students from Longfield Academy participated in the FSB skills 30:30, an event designed to bring students and local businesses together.

Student workshops
Within a packed schedule, students heard from Paul Andrews, serial entrepreneur and CEO of Jobs in Kent, www.jobsinkent.com on the changing nature of employment. He explained that this generation, “Generation Z”, are likely to find themselves doing jobs that do not yet exist.

Speed networking

After the business presentations and student workshops, all parties came together for a session of speed networking. This afforded students the opportunity to introduce themselves to a wide variety of business people, ask about their working lives and talk about their own aspirations for the future. One of the most daunting things for our young people can be talking to those that they do not know in a professional manner; speed networking gave them an ideal opportunity to overcome any such fears.
