Last week, Post 16 students at the Leigh UTC were invited to the Oracle headquarters in Reading for a day exploring the corporate world of the world’s leading database company. Students were taken through the various solutions that Oracle has for businesses as well as having one on one meetings with current interns about their experiences working with the company. Students then had a private session with one or Oracle’s leading hardware engineers who took them through the latest developments with SPARC processors which Oracle make as well as a tour of the demo data centre that Oracle uses to market solutions to enterprise clients.
Students came away with a real feel for the corporate world of IT and clear examples of how they could access it at the very start of their careers.
We thank Oracle for hosting us for the day and look forward to follow up trips in the future.
