On Thursday 3rd December, 30 year 13 students from the Longfield Academy took part in the initial Federation of Small Business Skills 30:30 event.

Students took part in both an interview technique workshop and presentation skills workshop followed by a speed networking session where they were able to use their newly honed skills when meeting local businesses.

The businesses who attended were given solid advice on how they might take on an apprentice or trainee and were treated to a most professional lunch provided by students taking catering qualifications at the Academy.

Paul Andrews, FSB Regional Policy Lead for Education and Skills and CEO of Jobs in Kent commented “Thanks so much for allowing us into your school. The campus is great and the food at lunchtime was superb. Most of all it was good to meet and talk with so many talented and engaged young people; I genuinely met at least two students yesterday that I would have hired on the spot if I was recruiting”.
