This is the first new scheme to launch for the 2017/18 academic year following on from the successes of established programmes elsewhere within the Trust.

Ably hosted by academy Principal, Wayne Barnett, and assisted by Sharon Mahon and Lynn Bayliss, delegates from the local West Kent business community were guided through the reasoning for business mentoring and what the benefits are in becoming a mentor. As part of cross Trust working, existing Longfield Academy mentor Simon Barker, General Manager of Brands Hatch Place Hotel ( attended to relate his rewarding experiences. The event was also supported by Trust staff, Louisa Felstead, Engagement Development Manager and Louise Badelow, Aspire Programme Manager.

Delegates came from a wide range of industries and included two former students and one current governor. The breakfast closed with a Q & A session, a tour of the academy and an invitation to participate. Sincere thanks to all who attended and we look forward to new mentors completing training in September.
