Social media company, We Do Social Media (, recently presented to post 16 students at The Leigh UTC on how to create a professional social media profile. They began by explaining what the social media platform Linkedin is and the best methods of setting up a professional profile.

Presenters, Elle and Linda Cloke went on to explain the many features of Linkedin including groups. They stressed the importance of a suitable profile photograph as well as accuracy in spelling and numeracy when creating a profile. Students were given useful insights into how to research businesses through this platform as well as making their own profiles stand out to potential employers.


Elle said of the experience,  ” Teaching at The Leigh UTC was wonderful. It’s important for younger generations to know the importance of social media, in particular, LinkedIn for their career. With technology forever growing and employers becoming more savvy, it’s vital to show yourself in the right way both offline and online”

Leigh UTC student, Jack commented “I think that Linkedin is an amazing site that allows me as a student to get myself “out there” into the business world and approach the job market looking to apply for apprenticeships”. Fellow student, Emma, also commented” The assembly gave us an insight on how to be more self-aware of our on-line presences. Elle and Linda were professional and friendly and they helped me to see a clearer vision of my future”
