On Wednesday 18th April, Oaks Primary Academy opened its doors to local business and community groups to host a scoping meeting for “Project Community”.

Local Community

Facilitated by Executive Head, Deborah Biggenden and Principal, Jane Tipple, those attending sat down to discuss how the academy could work with local organisations to further enhance learning and awareness of the local community and the outside world opportunities for students.

Further discussions on future collaboration and sharing of both networks and best practice are ongoing.

Delegate comment

“It is so encouraging to know that your school(s) are focussed on providing the children with a broad and balanced curriculum and engaging them with the wider world, rather than results and exams taking sole priority.” –              Lydia Olliver, The Family Trust

Principal comment

“At Oaks Primary Academy, we want to give pupils a broad and balanced curriculum delivered in context and by experts in their field wherever possible.  We also want pupils to be aware of their social responsibility and to know the great people and experiences that exist in their community. The intention of this meeting was to get ideas about what types of collaboration would be realistic and what might be on offer.  As expected, it was quite a small group for a first meeting but the conversations and ideas that were generated were beyond what I had anticipated. It is clear there is an amazing community of businesses and services ready and willing to work with schools to support and nurture the next generations.  I am very grateful to all those who attended and really excited about working with them to give our pupils the rich and purposeful education they are entitled to.”
