Year 9 at Longfield Academy participate in a careers carousel
As part of a whole school careers drop down day, year 9 students at Longfield Academy participated in a careers carousel with a varied range of external guests.
Guests and their areas of expertise were:
Hadlow College- Animal Management
West Kent & Ashford College- Business Administration, I.T and Computing
Cleantec- Business
Rochester Bridge Trust- Engineering
STEM Ambassador- Pharmacy and Medicine
Canterbury Christ Church University- Education and teaching
Canterbury Christ Church University- Psychology
Canterbury Christ Church University- Humanities
Each guest “hosted” a table which students visited in rotation akin to speed networking to find out about the host’s career and subject specialism.
Students were engaged and asked relevant questions throughout.

Students were amazed by the number of degree courses available and variety of career opportunities. An additional comment was that one student, through speaking with Rochester Bridge Trust, learnt how much of an effect engineering has on all aspects of everyday life.
